Shania Twain made a rare appearance on the red carpet before her appearance on NBC’s “The Voice” Monday night.
The 51-year-old singer gushed about getting to be a coach on the show and promised that it will be the “summer of Shania” as she announced that new music is coming out in June, according to Entertainment Tonight. (RELATED: Celebrate Shania Twain’s Birthday With Her HOTTEST Moments Ever [SLIDESHOW])
“I have a new single coming out in June,” Twain explained. “So I’m kicking off the summer with a new song, and then I’m finishing the summer with the release of the album.”
“It’s going to be the best summer ever for me,” she added. “It’s been such a long time since I put out a studio album. I wrote the whole album myself, so it’s a real statement of independence.”
She said that getting to put together the album has been therapeutic for her. It will be the first she one has put out in over a decade.
“Creative independence has been something that I haven’t had in a really long time,” Twain said. “And it was really scary taking that leap. So, I took it. The album’s done. And I feel relieved.”
The “Any Man of Mine” singer hasn’t released any new music since 2002. Last year, she said at a Billboard music event that she was working on another album and that it would be out by the end of the year.
Twain will perform this weekend at the country music festival Stagecoach in Indio, California, where she said she plans to debut the upcoming single.
