President Donald Trump continues to say Alabama should not elect Democrat Doug Jones to the Senate, but he will not reportedly campaign for Republican candidate Roy Moore.
The Associated Press reported Monday that Trump won’t campaign for the Senate candidate who is facing several allegations of sexual misconduct with minors.
Trump’s daughter and adviser Ivanka has come out against Moore, however, Trump has yet to condemn the Senate candidate. He has instead chosen to go after Moore’s opponent.
“The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY,” Trump tweeted Sunday. “Jones would be a disaster!”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wanted Roy Moore to drop out of the race and for Republicans to support a write-in candidate. A source close to McConnell’s political operation told The Daily Caller last week that a write-in campaign no longer looks “viable.”
