KFC Australia Tweets Out Picture Of Fried Chicken To Celebrate Royal Engagement

The Australia branch of Kentucky Fried Chicken tweeted out a racially charged meme Monday to celebrate the engagement between American actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The fried chicken company posted a meme of an engagement ring box open to reveal a piece of fried chicken with the caption “Exclusive Photo from Buckingham Palace #RoyalEngagement” Monday.

The company deleted the tweet shortly after it released it. The company did not return The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment in time for publication.

Harry and Markle announced their engagement Monday through a statement released by the Royal Family. Markle has spoken out against the press’s focus on her race in the beginning of her and Harry’s relationship, calling the reports “disheartening.”
